Cisco and Microsoft Slug it out

slug1.jpgslug2.jpgCisco and Microsoft are in the lead in the battle for the unified communications market but the fights just begun and no clear winner is still apparent for companies are still quite skeptical about the budding technology. Microsoft’s Office Communications Server has been subject to many tests and many still don’t quite feel they are ready to jump into the cold waters of unified communications, yet. They might have to shift soon but nobody is showing any recognizable leads, the other players in the field; Avaya, IBM and Nortel were also not hitters as they continue to bat for the hailed successor to the office desk phone. Is this the sign that the ole’ reliable desk phone is about to be shelved into the trash bin? Not yet for it might take a few years for any noticeable trends to make themselves apparent and only time will tell in unified communications technology truly is the key to a better communications standard.
