Major hardware manufacturers who make networking solutions usually have them in their inventory. Software solutions are as the name suggests, software based and are way cheaper than hardware-based gateways. It works much like the trunk line which is divided by the phone system to your building into the several phones that are available locally within a building. The theory is the same but they work on a totally different level. The addition of a Voip Gateway eliminates the need for several phone line into the company thus saving costs, replacing all the lines with one high-speed, high-capacity one. It also allows easy inter-connection between the several Voip Platforms that are currently available (any organization would surely have more than one) and in use. So the next time you hear the term Voip Gateway, its simply a way to make life easier in the digital age.
