VoIP -Open Wide to Attack

weak.jpgSecurity analysts in the US are finding that most American firms who have shifted to using VoIP over their standard phone services are not implementing enough security in he form of intrusion prevention and detection software. As said in other security reviews, people tend to be complacent and will only take action when it is necessary due to the current financial crisis which is wreaking the economy. Security analysts have found that only a mere 16 % of all firms have done security evaluations of their VoIP systems and many are getting to learn the hard way. VoIP is a recent comer to the IT security industry and not much information regarding the failure of security and other protection software are apparent. This scenario can be compared to a credit card company not releasing information regarding losses to fraud due to fears of lost customer confidence.
